Cancer misdiagnosis

Millions of Americans are misdiagnosed with cancer when they only had non-malignant tissue clumps

A bombshell report commissioned by the National Cancer Institute claims that the country's four-decade "War on Cancer" has largely been waged against "a vastly misunderstood 'enemy,' that in many cases represented no threat to human health whatsoever."

As reported by the Sleuth Journal, which has been covering the cancer issue, particularly "the dark side of breast cancer awareness month," what is needed to correct this injustice is a "complete reclassification of some types of 'breast cancer' as benign lesions," such as "ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS)." In addition, the Journal says it has repeatedly pointed out that breast screenings are not only themselves highly carcinogenic, but have also led to an "epidemic of 'overdiagnosis' and 'overtreatment' in U.S. women," amounting to about 1.3 million cases over the past three decades.

[Reporter's note: Natural News editor Mike Adams, the Health Ranger,  really brought that latter point home when he took Angelina Jolie to task in 2013 over her allegedly preventive double mastectomy.]

In recent days, a panel commissioned by the National Cancer Institute published its report in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) confirming that everyone should stop calling low-risk lesions like DCIS and high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (HGPIN) "cancer."

Reclassifying low-risk lesions has wide-reaching implications

The following are the far and wide-reaching implications to this recommendation, as reported by the Sleuth Journal:

~ As noted, millions of women in the U.S. alone have been diagnosed with DCIS, while millions of men have been diagnosed with HGPIN. Subsequently, these people have been mistreated. "Are they now to be retroactively reclassified as 'victims' of iatrogenesis, with legal recourse to seek compensation?"

~ All who decide to engage in a cancer screening henceforth should now reconsider, and then weigh, risks and benefits of so-called "preventive" treatment strategies, given that the likelihood of being diagnosed with a false positive over the course of 10 years is already more than 50 percent for those undergoing annual breast cancer screenings.

This will mean that the "breast cancer awareness" industry will have to change its message, "as it is theoretically culpable for the overdiagnosis and overtreatment of millions of U.S. women by propagating an entirely false concept of cancer."

Further, Medscape notes, as quoted by Sleuth Journal:

"The practice of oncology in the United States is in need of a host of reforms and initiatives to mitigate the problem of overdiagnosis and overtreatment of cancer, according to a working group sanctioned by the National Cancer Institute.

"Perhaps most dramatically, the group says that a number of premalignant conditions, including ductal carcinoma in situ and high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia, should no longer be called 'cancer.'"

New documentary seeks to reveal truth

On the heels of this groundbreaking report comes additional research in the form of an exclusive online documentary called "The Truth About Cancer: A Global Quest" set to begin on October 13. According to its promotional video, the documentary consists of a nine-part series featuring a number of alternative and holistic medical experts who all have proven track records of treating cancer successfully, without poisonous chemotherapy, medicines or harmful surgery.

"What if there is a better way? What if we do not have to suffer?" says the video's narrator as the documentary's agenda and objectives are introduced. "What if people are tragically dying without having access to what truly works? What if there are more effective treatments and prevention that will make cancer a disease of the past?"

The conference promises to be "an epic journey of a lifetime" in which information that is sure to "shock you" will be presented, the narrator says.

Lastly, the conference website adds that "When over 100 doctors, researchers, scientists and survivors from across the globe come together in unity and reveal for the first time their amazing new findings and the truth about cancer, it's not just news — it's a movement."

Protect your bones with magnesium

Magnesium-rich drinking water may protect bones

One of the best ways to have a successful, fulfilled older adulthood is to pay attention to the health and strength of the bones. While men and women both can fall prey to brittle bones, it is a particular problem for women due to the hormonal changes their bodies go through during menopause, when low estrogen levels can cause the loss of minerals like calcium and magnesium from the bones themselves.

This loss in turn makes bones brittle and increases the chances of a fall, which in turn can lead to decreased mobility or even placement in assisted living. All of these problems can be avoided, however, if people as they age lead a lifestyle that promotes strong bones. This can include getting plenty of calcium, magnesium and vitamin D in the diet and regular exercise. And recent research is showing that even the kind of water that people drink can make a big difference.

   The latest study

This new study is coming out of Norway, and researchers there analyzed the levels of calcium and magnesium in the public drinking water of areas throughout the country. These two minerals in particular were studied because they play such an important role in keeping bones strong and healthy even as someone ages.

The researchers wanted to determine if there was a relationship between a person's bone health and the kind of water they were drinking. At the same time, this study followed a group of 700,000 elderly patients for seven years. During that time, over 5,000 hip fractures were reported for men in this group and over 13,000 for women.

When the data from this study was analyzed, it was found that the men and women living in areas where the drinking water was naturally higher in magnesium had the fewest incidents of hip fractures. What surprised researchers, however, was that there was not a similar correlation for areas of drinking water which had higher levels of calcium. It is calcium, after all, that most healthcare providers focus in on when educating the middle-aged and elderly on bone health. This is the first study to look at incidence of hip fractures and bone health in relationship to drinking water.

   The reason for the study

There was good reason to conduct such a study. Norway, like most developed countries, is also an aging country and has a special interest in promoting the health of its elderly, with the goal of keeping them in their own homes as they age whenever safely possible.

One major roadblock to this goal is fractures due to falls – particularly hip fractures, which often result in weakness and loss of mobility and can often lead to placement in a nursing home, assisted living or similar facility. This has an enormous social and financial cost for both the individuals and their families as well as for society as a whole.

In short, the problem of weak bones - and the potential for hip fractures or other serious fractures - in an aging population is a major social issue. And while many factors play a part in this disease, studies like this can be extremely useful in determining different ways - such as magnesium supplementation in areas with low magnesium levels in the water - to help avoid this problem to begin with.

How To Detox From Fluoride

Experts have been warning for years against the dangers of sodium fluoride, but recently more awareness has spread than ever before. Following the rampant success of essential news stories centered around fluoride, including a story I authored just three short days ago highlighting the horrendous amount of sodium fluoride in doctor recommended toothpaste (500,000% higher than fluoridated water), it’s now important to discuss how to actually get it out of your system through fluoride detox.

Even if you somehow managed to escape the ingestion of fluoridated water in your younger years, chances are you’ve been exposed to food items that actually can contain about 180 times the sodium fluoride content as fluoridated water according to fluoride expert Jeff Green. This has to do with how what’s known as aluminum fluoride, or Cryolite. Used as a pesticide due to its ability to kill bugs, conventional farmers will oftentimes spray excessive amounts of the sticky substance onto crops. As a result, the aluminum fluoride substance will reside unless thoroughly washed off of the produce.

In an interview with Dr. Joseph Mercola, Jeff explains the issue:

“Cryolite is actually sodium aluminum fluoride… This sodium aluminum fluoride is especially effective at killing bugs,” Green says. “It’s also very sticky, so when they spray it, it’s more likely to stick on your produce, unless you’re… really working at trying to get it off of it.”

Note the white spots and stains on tooth enamel, this disorder occurs after excessive intake of fluoride in the body. Fluorine does not keep teeth but destroys them

Admittedly it’s not as high as the extra-fluoride toothpaste that is pushed on kids to treat their nonexistent ‘fluoride deficiency’ peddled by some dentists, however it is still a detrimental amount. Plus, it’s more than likely that you’ve been exposed to both fluoridated tap water and conventional fluoride-sprayed. So what can you do about it?

   Fluoride Detox Protocol

The realm of fluoride detox, or fluoride detoxification, is often left untouched. After all, this poisonous substance is still considered perfectly safe by many despite even Harvard admitting that it completely wreaks havoc on IQ and brain development. But this article isn’t about the history of fluoride, it’s about getting it out of your system. Thankfully, a number of fluoride detox methods do exist that can help remove sodium fluoride from your body in addition to another of other concerning materials.

Selenium is one nutrient that oftentimes is the first answer given to those seeking to combat the existence of sodium fluoride in their bodies. As FoodConsumer reports, selenium has actually been found to help block the effects of fluoride as well as fluoride elimination. A great natural source of selenium is Brazil nuts, but is important to keep your intake in balance. I don’t recommend you start eating handfuls of Brazil nuts. Many in the field of natural health recommend a dose of 100 to 200 micrograms, though this does fall below the National Institute of Health’s ‘upper limit’ of 400 micrograms.

Brazil nuts vary in selenium content depending on a number of factors, but on average you can expect 70 to 90 micrograms per serving. Selenium is also found in fish, meat, and nuts. Don’t forget also that taking selenium along with high doses of vitamin C and zinc can actually inhibit proper absorption. Here is a useful list of foods that contain selenium that includes microgram count.

   Nascent Iodine

Iodine is important in many ways even outside of fluoride detox, but the reality is that fluoride directly attacks the thyroid.

Extract of iodine which can be obtained on the Internet

The key here is that iodine, preferably nascent iodine which is the best quality, helps to remove sodium fluoride through the urine as calcium fluoride.

Have you ever heard of tamarind? It’s a staple in the ancient Ayurvedic medicine system, which is considered to be the ‘mother’ of natural medicine. In addition to yielding delicious teas when added to your favorite tea beverage, tamarind also helps expel fluoride through the urine.

   Dry Sauna

As with many other toxic substances, a powerful dry sauna session can help to excrete sodium fluoride from fatty tissues. Be sure to drink up on purified water to replenish yourself afterwards.

Detoxifying fluoride from your body can be challenging, but it is a process that can help alleviate the massive build up of this toxic chemical sold to the public as ‘safe’ and ‘effective’ by pseudo-scientific fraudsters. While you cannot go back in time and avoid all exposure to fluoride, you can utilize these methods to detoxify it from within your body today.

Sound against Cancer

by Dr. Antonio Jimenez, M.D.

Instead of damaging chemotherapy scientists offer sound harmless treatment - Sono-Photo Dynamic Therapy (SPDT)

Sono-Photo Dynamic Therapy (SPDT) is really a combination of two individual therapies: Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) and Sonodynamic Therapy (SDT). Both these therapeutic methods have been extensively discussed in the scientific literature and have a strong scientific basis. However, the combination of these therapies into a non-toxic modality and integration with other natural treatment methods have allowed us to accomplish results with this therapy have not been witnessed elsewhere.

In essence, our implementation of SPDT accomplishes the desired results from chemotherapy or radiation, without adding toxicity into the body, even as we balance the hemostatic needs of the body using the other principles outlined below:

1. Non-Toxic Cytolytic and Cytostatic Therapies
2. Enhance & Optimize the Immune System
3. Full Spectrum Nutrition
4. Detoxification (Heavy Metals & Toxins)
5. Eliminate Microbes & Pathogens
6. Oxygenation
7. Spiritual & Emotional Integrity

The mechanism of Sono-Photo Dynamic Therapy (SPDT)

SPDT has the following requirements:

1. A Sensitizer. A sensitizer is a molecule that gets preferentially absorbed into cancer cells. When subjected to specific wavelengths of light and sound, the electrons in the sensitizer molecule get stimulated to an "excited" energy level causing the desired biological effect described below.

2. A Sound and Light Source. The range of wavelengths of sound and light used are specific to the sensitizer – in other words, they need to be in the range where they can cause the activation of the sensitizer. While light, by nature, is not penetrative, sound can utilize the water in the body as a carrier to transmit its frequencies deep into the body. As a result, the combination of light and sound allows us to address tumors at various depths in the body. We have also worked to enhance our light technology. Our portable, pulsed LED light source is both easy to use as well as many times more penetrative than a regular light source of the same wavelength.

3. Molecular Oxygen. Using methods such as ozone therapy, oxygen supplements, hyperbaric chambers and direct administration of oxygen, we strive to improve the cellular concentrations of oxygen, a necessary component for the generation of reactive oxygen species explained below.

How SPDT Works: The excited sensitizer stimulates the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) from molecular oxygen present in the cell. The impact of ROS on cancer cells is very well documented in the literature.

The ROS leads the cancer cell to its death by severely increasing the levels of oxidative stress, causing genetic and cell membrane damage. The death of the cancer cells activates the immune system that responds to the call to clean up the debris and attacking the remaining malignant cells that are finally recognized as invaders.

SPDT also blocks the formation of new blood vessels (anti-angiogenesis), the crucial conduit for cancer cell nutrition. All these pathways are described and documented extensively in the scientific literature.

Our goal here is not to thoroughly review the science of SPDT, but to provide some examples of what is already known about these therapies: The progress of PDT applications has been reviewed extensively:

According to the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, PDT using the drug Photofrin® (porfimer sodium) has been approved for various applications worldwide (in Canada, bladder and esophageal cancer; in The Netherlands, lung and esophageal cancer; in Japan, early lung cancer; in France, early and late stage lung cancer; in Germany, early lung cancer). Photofrin®-PDT has been approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration for the palliative treatment of advanced esophageal cancer, Barrett's esophagus with high grade dysplasia, advanced lung cancer (obstruction tumors located in the airway), and the treatment of early stage lung cancer (located in the airway) with curative intent.

Researchers have established that photodynamic therapy (PDT) generates a long-term, anti-tumor immune response elicited by phototoxic damage with an intermediate inflammatory stimulus.

The scientific basis for the anti-angiogenic effect of PDT is detailed by researchers who have shown that microvascular collapse is readily observed following PDT, and can lead to persistent post-PDT tumor hypoxia.7

Reduction of brain cancer after a SPDT

While not as extensively investigated as PDT, Sonodynamic Therapy (SDT) also has sufficient precedent as a powerful anti-cancer therapy in the scientific literature. In a recent review, the authors describe the various potential mechanisms of SDT that could range from chain peroxidation of membrane lipids, the physical destabilization of the cell membrane, ultrasound induced free radicals and more.

9 Kuroki and co-authors have reviewed a number of sonosensitizers that can be used for sonodynamic therapy in a recent mini-review.

Hundreds of other scientific studies have detailed the efficacy of SDT, which will be reviewed elsewhere in future publications.

Clinical Demonstration: The Effect of Sono-Photo Dynamic Therapy on Tumor Vascularity

For the many years during which we have implemented SPDT as one of our key treatment protocols, we have accumulating clinical experience that points towards the efficacy of the protocol as a powerful treatment modality for cancer patients.
In unpublished work, we have recently evaluated the effect of SPDT on tumor vascularity. Using High Resolution Color Doppler Ultrasound technology, we routinely monitor not just the tumor size for our patients, but also the degree of Sonodynamic therapy of cancer using novel sonosensitizers. Anticancer Research 27:3673-3677.
blood flow in the tumor that correlates to the viability of the tumor. The use of this method is increasing rapidly in cancer patients (alongside the use of contrast-enhanced MRI) for the non-invasive but accurate prognosis, therapy monitoring or prediction of therapy success. This study was conducted entirely at Hope4Cancer Institute's Baja California clinic location.
A total of 50 randomly selected patients treated at Hope4Cancer between January 2012 and June 2013 were studied. Two treatment modalities, SPDT and the BX Protocol, were evaluated as independent treatments, or in a combined protocol.

Gender and Cancer Distribution in Vascularity Study

The patients were monitored once before and a second time at the end of their stay at the clinic (average of 2-3 weeks). The following chart  shows the drastic reduction in vascularity demonstrating, in particular, the powerful effect of SPDT where the average reduction of vascularity was over 53.8%.

Conclusion: The integration of science-based treatments into traditional natural medicine enables us to provide powerful evidence-based treatment protocols to cancer patients without inducing negative toxicity-induced side effects. As alternative cancer treatments continue to improve, we can envision a world where cancer is treated effectively using combination protocols that take into account the diversity of stimuli that affect the growth and recurrence of cancer.

Baking Soda Does Not Contain Aluminum

It's the myth that just won't die. People to this day confuse baking soda with baking powder and the presence of aluminum. Baking soda has never had aluminum. Never has, never will. Marketing tactics have convinced millions of the opposite at the expense of common sense when it comes to simple chemistry. In fact, almost any grocery store baking soda can be as safe, economical, pure and convenient a source of sodium bicarbonate as other expensive brands that claim to be aluminum free.

Baking soda has been framed and it must be cleared of guilt. The first thing necessary in assuring you have quality baking soda is to verify that it states 100% sodium bicarbonate on the package.

Bob’s Red Mill is one company who people falsely believe manufacture more of an aluminum free baking soda than other companies. Really? As opposed to aluminum in which other brand of baking soda? Great marketing, but it's simply not true.

   Why The Confusion?

The confusion arose about a decade ago when people starting mistaking the processing of baking powder for baking soda and some companies then jumped on the bandwagon. If you’re going to look for the words aluminum-free, look for it on baking powder, not baking soda.

Both baking soda and baking powder can be used as leavening agents, which means they can be added to baked goods before cooking to produce carbon dioxide and cause them to 'rise'. Baking powder contains baking soda, but the two substances are not the same and used under different conditions.

Baking powder contains sodium bicarbonate, but it includes the acidifying agent already (cream of tartar), and also a drying agent (usually starch).

Typical formulations of baking powder call for 30% sodium bicarbonate, 5-12% monocalcium phosphate, and 21-26% sodium aluminium sulfate.

Baking powders are available both with and without aluminum compounds. Some people prefer not to use baking powder with aluminum because it gives food a vaguely metallic taste and of course there are associated health concerns with any increase in aluminum in our diets.

Most baking powders show similar performance when put to the test. This may be a result of the FDA regulations that require all baking powders to release at least 12% CO2 coupled with the constraints imposed by the acid-base chemistry itself, leading to only small differences in the amount of gas released from each brand. In other words, aside from the concerns over aluminum, we should reasonably expect double-acting baking powders from the leading brands to be interchangeable with each other in recipes.

Are There Differences Between Baking Sodas?

Not really. Definitely not enough to justify spending extra dollars on any claims made regarding aluminum. Arm and Hammers Baking Soda is as aluminum free as Bob’s Red Mill, which advertises itself specifically to be aluminum free, and in the process has convinced most people that Arm and Hammers has aluminum when it does not. There is typically no process in the manufacturing of baking soda that will allow it to retain aluminum.

Baking soda can be prepared using via reaction of sodium chloride, ammonia, and carbon dioxide in water. However, pure product is obtained from sodium carbonate, water and carbon dioxide through different reactions.

Arm & Hammer baking soda uses a chemical reaction process through which trona ore is mined, then heated until it turns into soda ash.

The sodium bicarbonate contained in 8-oz boxes of Arm and Hammer Baking Soda is sufficiently constant in weight that dissolves in water to a given volume, and yields a quantitatively acceptable therapeutic solution of sodium bicarbonate at a cost of approximately 3 percent of that of pharmacy- weighed sodium bicarbonate.

Bob’s Red Mill costs $2.61 a pound and Arm and Hammers costs less making it the least expensive medicine in the world. Sodium bicarbonate is widely available in most supermarkets and discount chains across the country at a cost of just over $2 per pound.

6 Ways Baking Soda Such A Powerful Medicinal Agent?

Bicarbonate is an alkaline substance naturally produced in the body that buffers acids and helps keep pH in check.

The pH of your blood is tightly regulated by a complex system of buffers that are continuously at work to maintain a range of 7.35 to 7.45, which is slightly more alkaline than pure water. However, the close you can get to 7.45, the better your body will be in a state to ward off disease.

Baking soda is very effective when mixed with water to be used as an antacid to treat acid indigestion and heartburn. It is also used as the medicinal ingredient in gripe water for infants.

It can be effectively used intravenously as an aqueous solution that is used for cases of acidosis, or when there are insufficient sodium or bicarbonate ions in the blood.

   1) Kidney Disease

In one study, British researchers treated patients with advanced kidney disease and metabolic acidosis with oral sodium bicarbonate in conjunction with their usual treatment for two years. The sodium bicarbonate slowed the rate of decline in kidney function by two-thirds, and just 6.5 percent of the patients treated with sodium bicarbonate required dialysis by the end of the study, compared to 33 percent in a control group. Discuss this with your physician and encourage him to look into this promising therapy, which can slow the progression of this devastating disease.

   2) Cancer

Studies have shown that dietary measures to boost bicarbonate levels can increase the pH of acidic tumors without upsetting the pH of the blood and healthy tissues. Animal models of human breast cancer show that oral sodium bicarbonate does indeed make tumors more alkaline and inhibit metastasis. Dr. Julian Whitaker's protocol uses 12 g (2 rounded teaspoons) of baking soda mixed in 2 cups water, along with a low-cal sweetener. This mixture is taken over the course of an hour or two and repeat for a total of three times a day.

On cancer survivor who was initially diagnosed with stage IV aggressive prostate cancer which metastasized to his bones. He initially turned to Cesium, but ended up using a baking soda molasses protocol as a natural cure which eliminated his cancer and has worked for hundreds of others.

   3) Heartburn

The most cost-effective way to relieve occasional heartburn and indigestion is to stir half a teaspoon of baking soda into half a cup of water and drink it an hour or two after meals.

   4) Dermatological Conditions

British researchers found that adding one-half cup of baking soda to bathwater soothed itchiness and irritation in patients with psoriasis. And a paste made of baking soda mixed with a little water and dabbed on sunburn, insect bites, allergic rashes, and skin exposed to poison oak/ivy reduces discomfort. That same paste also makes a nice, gentle exfoliant.

   5) Natural Deodorant

Simply mix about a teaspoon of baking soda with enough water to create a milky liquid, and rub it on your feet and underarms.

   6) Oral Health

Baking soda is a popular ingredient in toothpastes and mouthwashes since it has been shown to enhance plaque removal. Of course, you could just dip your toothbrush in baking soda, but due to its abrasive qualities, it may wear down enamel over time.

Black Seed - 'The Remedy For Everything But Death'

This humble, but immensely powerful seed, kills MRSA, heals the chemical weapon poisoned body, stimulates regeneration of the dying beta cells within the diabetic's pancreas, and yet too few even know it exists.

The seeds of the annual flowering plant, Nigella Sativa, have been prized for their healing properties since time immemorial. While frequently referred to among English-speaking cultures as Roman coriander, black sesame, black cumin, black caraway and onion seed, it is known today primarily as black seed, which is at the very least an accurate description of its physical appearance.

The earliest record of its cultivation and use come from ancient Egypt. Black seed oil, in fact, was found in Egyptian pharoah Tutankhamun's tomb, dating back to approximately 3,300 years ago. In Arabic cultures, black cumin is known as Habbatul barakah, meaning the "seed of blessing." It is also believed that the Islamic prophet Mohammed said of it that it is "a remedy for all diseases except death."

Many of black cumin's traditionally ascribed health benefits have been thoroughly confirmed in the biomedical literature. In fact, since 1964, there have been  458 published, peer-reviewed studies referencing it.

We have indexed salient research on well over 40 health conditions that may be benefited from the use of the herb, including over 20 distinct pharmacological actions it expresses, such as:

~ Analgesic (Pain-Killing)
~ Anti-Bacterial
~ Anti-Inflammatory
~ Anti-Ulcer
~ Anti-Cholinergic
~ Anti-Fungal
~ Ant-Hypertensive
~ Antioxidant
~ Antispasmodic
~ Antiviral
~ Bronchodilator
~ Gluconeogenesis Inhibitor (Anti-Diabetic)
~ Hepatoprotective (Liver Protecting)
~ Hypotensive
~ Insulin Sensitizing
~ Interferon Inducer
~ Leukotriene Antagonist
~ Renoprotective (Kidney Protecting)
~ Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha Inhibitor

These 22 pharmacological actions are only a subset of a far wider number of beneficial properties intrinsic to the black seed. While it is remarkable that this seed has the ability to positively modulate so many different biological pathways, this is actually a rather common occurrence among traditional plant medicines.

                                  Black seed

Our project has identified over 1600 natural compounds with a wide range of health benefits, and we are only in our first 5 years of casual indexing. There are tens of thousands of other substances that have already been researched, with hundreds of thousands of studies supporting their medicinal value (MEDLINE, whence our study abstracts come, has over 600,000 studies classified as related to Complementary and Alternative Medicine).

Take turmeric, for example. We have identified research indicating its value in over 600 health conditions, while also expressing over 160 different potentially beneficial pharmacological actions. You can view the quick summary of over 1500 studies we have summarized on our Turmeric Research page, which includes an explorative video on turmeric. Professional database members are further empowered to manipulate the results according to their search criteria, i.e. pull up and print to PDF the 61 studies on turmeric and breast cancer. This, of course, should help folks realize how voluminous the supportive literature indicating the medicinal value of natural substances, such as turmeric and black seed, really is.

Black seed has been researched for very specific health conditions. Some of the most compelling applications include:

Type 2 Diabetes:  Two grams of black seed a day resulted in reduced fasting glucose, decreased insulin resistance, increased beta-cell function, and reduced glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in human subjects.

Helicobacter Pylori Infection: Black seeds possess clinically useful anti-H. pylori activity, comparable to triple eradication therapy.

Epilepsy: Black seeds were traditionally known to have anticonvulsive properties. A 2007 study with epileptic children, whose condition was refractory to conventional drug treatment, found that a water extract significantly reduced seizure activity.

High Blood pressure: The daily use of 100 and 200 mg of black seed extract, twice daily, for 2 months, was found to have a blood pressure-lowering effect in patients with mild hypertension.

Asthma: Thymoquinone, one of the main active constituents within Nigella sativa (black cumin), is superior to the drug fluticasone in an animal model of asthma. Another study, this time in human subjects, found that boiled water extracts of black seed have relatively potent antiasthmatic effect on asthmatic airways.

Acute tonsillopharyngitis: characterized by tonsil or pharyngeal inflammation (i.e. sore throat), mostly viral in origin, black seed capsules (in combination with Phyllanthus niruri) have been found to significantly alleviate throat pain, and reduce the need for pain-killers, in human subjects.

Chemical Weapons Injury: A randomized, placebo-controlled human study of chemical weapons injured patients found that boiled water extracts of black seed reduced respiratory symptoms, chest wheezing, and pulmonary function test values, as well as reduced the need for drug treatment.

Colon Cancer: Cell studies have found that black seed extract compares favorably to the chemoagent 5-fluoruracil in the suppression of colon cancer growth, but with a far higher safety profile.[x] Animal research has found that black seed oil has significant inhibitory effects against colon cancer in rats, without observable side effects.

MRSA: Black seed has anti-bacterial activity against clinical isolates of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus.

Opiate Addiction/Withdrawal: A study on 35 opiate addicts found black seed as an effective therapy in long-term treatment of opioid dependence.

Sometimes the biblical reference to 'faith the size of a mustard seed moving mountains' comes to mind in connection with natural substances like black seeds. After all, do seeds not contain within them the very hope for continuance of the entire species that bore it? This super-saturated state of the seed, where life condenses itself down into an intensely miniaturized holographic fragment of itself, promising the formation of future worlds within itself, is the very emblem of life's immense and immortal power.

                       Black seed plant (Nigella Sativa)

If we understand the true nature of the seed, how much life (past, present and future) is contained within it, it will not seem so far-fetched that it is capable of conquering antibiotic resistant bacteria, healing the body from chemical weapons poisoning, or stimulate the regeneration of dying insulin-producing beta cells in the diabetic, to name but only a fraction of black seed's experimentally-confirmed powers.

Moving the mountain of inertia and falsity associated with the conventional concept of disease, is a task well-suited for seeds and not chemicals. The greatest difference, of course, between a seed and a patented synthetic chemical (i.e. pharmaceutical drug), is that Nature (God) made the former, and men with profit-motives and a deranged understanding of the nature of the body made the latter.

The time, no doubt, has come for food, seeds, herbs, plants, sunlight, air, clean water, and yes, love, to assume once again their central place in medicine, which is to say, the art and science of facilitating self-healing within the human body. Failing this, the conventional medical system will crumble under the growing weight of its own corruption, ineptitude, and iatrogenic suffering (and subsequent financial liability) it causes. To the degree that it reforms itself, utilizing non-patented and non-patentable natural compounds with actual healing properties, a brighter future awaits on the horizon. To the degree that it fails, folks will learn to take back control over their health themselves, which is why black seed, and other food-medicines, hold the key to self-empowerment.
